    The USS Mullinnix (DD-944) is a proud legacy of the United States Navy. A Forrest Sherman-class destroyer, it was commissioned in 1965 and served with distinction until its decommissioning in 1993. The USS Mullinnix was named in honor of Rear Admiral John Joseph Mullinnix, who served in the U.S. Navy from 1876 to 1927. He served in many battles, including the Spanish-American War, and was awarded the Navy Cross for his heroic actions during the battle of Santiago.
